Congrats to my Brother
Championship weekend continued at the Old Dominion Speedway Saturday night as two more drivers took home track titles. Scott Roux from Woodbridge Va. took home the Mini Modified track title by just 2 points over Ken Datesman from Arlington Va., while Steve Purks held on to take the track title in the Victory Lane Graphix / Advanced Auto Care UCAR division. These drivers join Phil Kenney from Gainesville Va. who a couple of weeks ago took home the track championship in the Speedway Sportsman division. Roux and Datesman came into the evening in a virtual deadlock for the point lead with one race remaining. Both drivers had an equal number of wins, seconds, and third place finishes. Just 6 point s out of the lead was veteran Bobby Able, the only other driver with a shot at the title. Once the green dropped, those three drivers found themselves at the head of the pack, battling for the win and the title. Roux took the lead in his Calvert-Jones Ford, with Able a close second in his ReMax Toyota. Datesman was watching from third. Roux began to stretch his lead out while Able and Datesman battled for the runner-up spot. Able would loop his machine and slam the inside fence hard, ending his night. When the green dropped, Roux had the lead and began to stretch it out over the final circuits. "My car was bad in the center of the corners all day today," said a disappointed Datesman said after the checkers flew. "We worked on it all day, and could not find what the problem was," he added. "Man I wanted that track championship bad - we’ll be back next season though," he said. Roux on the other hand, has called it quits after this season. "no plans on coming back next year," he said in an earlier interview. ( http://208.35.150.184/results/Last_Saturday_Night.htm )
