Gravel Dude
Well, the gravel dude, or I should say DUD, really pissed me off. A job that should have only taken 1 day has turned into 4 days. I really hate the thought of paying him, since he has wasted so much of my time, but what can you really do? So, I hire this guy to push 44 tons of gravel around my yard/driveway. He starts on Monday. I have no idea what time he got there because everyone was at work. When I left work at Noon, half of the gravel work was done and he was nowhere to be seen. He comes back in at 2 pm with another small load of gravel, probably an extra ton and proceeds to tell me that he needs to go home and pick up a different piece of equipment to move the gravel around, because the bobcat he brought does not work very well. Of course, he says he will be right back. By 6 pm, he was not back yet. I begin to get frustrated. Finally, at 7 pm he arrives with his tractor, pushes the gravel, and makes it nice and tidy. Just as he was leaving he says, "I will be back at 7 am tomorrow. I have a sweeper that I will bring to clean up your driveway and I will finish the putting the timbers down around the graveled areas.” Ok, sounds good to me.
I get up at 6:30 am, on Tuesday (work from home day) and start moving vehicles around, and I wait… wait… wait… 12:45 pm I call him. "Umm, I thought you were going to be here at 7:00 am?”
He says, "Well I had to pick up some supplies so that I can finish the job and I am on my way right now."
So I wait… wait… wait… at 4:30 pm I get out my trusty shovel and broom and I start cleaning the mess up. I am 100% pissed off at this point. I sat around waiting for this lazy ass loser for the entire day. There were things that I wanted to do and could not, because I needed to be there to make sure the crap was done right. So, I call my husband and he tells me to stop sweeping and see if he shows by 6 pm. Well, the lazy ass finally decided to call me at 5:30 pm and left a message saying, "I’m out here near
BRISTOL ? (Bristol is pretty damn far from Stafford) I thought he was on his damn way when I spoke to him at 12:45?!?!?! He could have told me then where the hell he was. LIAR!
So, I call him right back and of course I get his voice mail… "Excuse me, but first of all, you were going to be here at 7 am. Then you were on your way at 12:45 pm. If you had another job to finish up, why didn’t you just say so and not waste my entire day waiting for you to come finish this job.!!!!!!!"
He then calls me back and states that he wasn’t being dishonest, but that he had a call the night before stating that a job he did in Bristol was not going to pass inspection so he had to go take care of it (wonder why?). He then said that he had supplies there that he was going to use for the work on my driveway and that he was sorry for any misunderstanding. He would be over at my home first thing on Wednesday morning to complete the job. HAHAHA! I call Bullshit.
Wednesday comes… my son is home for part of the day, of course it was his day off so he slept till noon and then left. Gravel dude was there putting down some timbers. A whole 6 pieces and then he begins to sweep. No, he does not have a sweeper like he said he did. Anyhow, when I got home from work, part of one parking pad only had timbers on 2 sides ("L" shaped), not 3 as I had told him multiple times.
He leaves a message on my voice mail at 3:30 pm stating that he did not know if it needed to be 3 sided or 2 sided. I think to myself: Well, dude, it looks pretty f’n stupid with only 2 sides done, don’t you think? Anyhow, I am done with the guy by now. I tell my husband to call him back, because I will just completely go off on his ass if I have to speak to him again. The guy tells my husband that he is in the process of picking up the other two pieces of timber to finish the parking pad and will be back by dark… wait… wait… wait… Ok, so the "supplies" that he had to pick up from
He leaves a message at 7:30 pm. "I will be sending one of my helpers over to finish the work and I will be sending my wife over to pick up the final payment for the job. Please let me know if someone will be there to pay me.” You know what I wanted to call and say to this man?? I am sure you can imagine. Hubby calls him back and lets him know where the check will be.
I tell you right now… I will never use this person ever again, not for anything. In order to avoid a slander lawsuit, if those of you in the F’burg area want his name so’s to not hire him, send me an email (psst… he also works at Chili’s in Spotsy). Do not purchase gravel and have him do the work for you. A simple job will take days. Yeah, he got the job done, but come on his excuses sucked. I gave this guy the benefit of the doubt the whole time. Even when I was so pissed off, I could spit nails. I only called him twice. Once on Tuesday at 12:45 and again when he left me the message later that evening. I was not rude to him, not as I could have been. He just cannot seem to get his crap together.
