Missing Catfish?
Ok, I’m not sure what the deal is, but it seems we now have a missing Catfish. This little guy… which was purchased previous to the missing plecostomus, is now missing. I went out and purchased another plecostomus and I also purchased a 2nd catfish ("spot") on Thursday afternoon. I noticed yesterday that "Stripe" (how original a name) was now missing. Stripe has a lot of mean barbs that run down its sides, and there is not another fish in the tank that would take this guy on. The space at the top of the tank is about and 1" square. The water level is two inches below, so I do not know how they are getting out, unless they are securing themselves to the heater cord and using that as their escape route. I’m not sure what else to do. I thought I was providing a nice little home for these guys. I don’t understand why they want to fly the coupe so to speak.
So far the new pleco is acting much better than the old one did. I hope this one will stay around for a while. And the spotted catfish (Spot) similar to the one on the right, seems to like his new little home too.

So, are you saying that these fish are actually GONE? Like you’re not finding them laying on the floor in front of the tank?
That’s very strange.
I’m assuming you have cats maybe?
PS- using the heater cord as an escape route gave me a very funny, rather Dr. Seuss type of image in my head.
Maybe this is going too far with that funny image, but a knapsack was involved.

Well, we found the first missing fish under her dresser… This cat fish is no where to be found. She keeps her bedroom door closed 24/7 and so I don’t believe the cats got it, or the dog because he can’t climb the stairs anymore. 1 fish, 2 fish, red fish, blue fish…

Is your tank covered?
Liz says:
Yes covered with a cutout for the heater cord and the filtration system, area open is about 1″ x 1″ where the heater cord is and the filtration system takes up more than 3″, but there is no way he could get out of there. At least, not that I can tell.

Heh… strange indeed. I actually bought food before going to the FD last week. I’ll still check out your site though

Liz says:
Oh wow, that’s really cool. We have something in common for the most part.
