Not much has been going on in our lives lately.  The usual - go to work, come home, exercise, eat dinner, go to bed and start all over again.  Homework is a constant for me and this semester is just as much a bitch as last semester. This time it’s American Lit. I love to read, but I don’t like to read stuff from the early 1900’s. The other class is a breeze. I think I have a whole other year left… I need to look at that.

This past weekend was Supper Club.  I have not been to one and it was a lot of fun.  The food was great and I enjoyed seeing friends and meeting new people.  Too much fun, some might say.  ;) Oh boy.  Some how, I managed to get really eff’d up on wine.  I don’t know if my metabolism has increased due to my diet, causing me to metabolize alcohol much faster, getting me drunk a lot quicker than normal or what. But I know that I only had 3 glasses of wine (2 sips out of a 4th glass) and that put me under the table so to speak.  Maybe one of the wines had a higher alcohol percentage.  *shrugs*  My son says, ‘Mom, you partied on New Years and was doing shots of 101 Wild Turkey, drank 2 bottles of Boones Farm and had a few Miller Lites and you  stayed up till 3 am, wtf?’  Yeah, something just wasn’t right Saturday night. lol  Husband picked me up and brought me home.  Put me in bed and placed a bucket by the bed, which I did not use.  However, I woke on Sunday morning at 4am thirsty. gulped down a huge glass of ice tea and went back to bed.  By 6am, I was ill.  Very very ill.  I made it to the bathroom to get sick and I was sick for the rest of the day.  I couldn’t get out of bed.  By 7pm, I was able eat some toast and have hot tea.  When I woke up on Monday morning, I still felt like hell.  No more wine at Supper Club for me.

My son is trying to sell his Explorer.  It’s a 1998, miles are high, but it is in good shape.  We are hoping to have it sold soon.  He wants to buy a Trans Am or a Camaro z28.  He has a lot of money saved and with the sale of this SUV, he will have enough to get the one he wants.  Insurance will suck for him, but that’s his own lesson to learn.  He has an interview with a Federal Fire Department on Monday. He will do the interview and then the Physical Agility Test. We are really hoping that he will get in with them.  The only down side of this job is that he will have to commute to Bethesda, Maryland .  But since this is a federal government job, he will be able to transfer eventually to Quantico , which is where he really wants to be.  The schedule is a 72 hour work week with 24 hour shifts.  He’ll be making salary as a GS5 + overtime.  He also has to go for the written test for Fairfax County next Saturday.  So, he is studying hard for that one too.

The dental work is going well for him, however he feels everything.  His mouth gets numb, but the pain while drilling is what he still feels.  He had a couple of big fillings to have done last Wednesday and by this past Sunday he started to have pain in his jaw.  I hope that the tooth isn’t going to end up with a root canal.  He is going back to the dentist on Friday to see about the pain and hopefully, its just residual pain and not something new.  This dental work is really draining my wallet.

His job is going well at the hospital.  He is looking to become an Emergency Room Tech, which will give him "full time" status with benefits.  Keeping our fingers crossed on that one too!  He normally puts in 12 hours each day, Monday & Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.  Taking Wednesday off.  He got home on Tuesday night at 11:30 pm only to hear a fire call go out on the scanner.  He raced to the station to make it in time to catch the Tower.  The fire was at Virginia Paving and was huge and he didn’t get home until 6:00 am and he was covered in soot.

Jess passed her English and Geometry SOLs, which exempts her from final exams at school next week.  Her psychology teacher also exempted her from finals next week, so she only has to go to school one day, (Tuesday) for the science final.  I’m very proud of how well she has done this year.  Next year she will be a Senior.  *tear*  We need to start looking into her college future.  She wants to go to Germanna and begin her Psychology degree and transfer to a 4 year college, but she isn’t sure yet which college she wants to transfer to.  She is thinking somewhere around VA Beach.  She has time to figure it out.

She is still washing hair at Impressions and likes it, but it really doesn’t pay enough.  She struggles to keep gas in her car.  So she had taken a second job staining concrete for $10/hr.  She really likes this and the good thing is that if she uses her vehicle to go to jobs, the company will fill her vehicle with gas, or she can use the company truck.  Since she doesn’t feel comfortable driving the company truck, they fill up hers and she is happy.  She’s a hard worker and I am so glad that she has a good work ethic.  It’s important for later on in life.

Well, we got a call that our shed is ready… but are we ready?  Nope.  We were supposed to be saving up so that we could pay the remainder of the shed off when it was ready, but then we also thought it wouldn’t be ready until late July. hah!  So, my husband is going to cash in his leave (he can do that at his company), he has about 120 hours to cash in.  So that will help us pay for this shed.  I can’t wait till we get it because our garage is over flowing with ’stuff’.

Well, I guess that’s all for now.  I will update how things go for my son’s interview.  Until then, I hope you all have a nice weekend.  ;)
